Hiker Trash Challenge

Hiker Trash Challenge - Clean up our trails - Leave No Trace I just like many of you carry a bag when I go hiking so I can help clean up behind those who leave behind trash. I hope to also inspire others to see me cleaning and hope they will do the same. As a Cub scout leader I encourage my scouts to clean the trails as we hike and try to do a clean up project once a year. In the military you're taught to leave things better than you found them. Through this challenge we are hoping to spread awareness and make a difference. We love our outdoor spaces and hope to keep them clean and safe for all to enjoy. The challenge can be accomplished over multiple hikes. We hope you can't find 25lbs of trash on one trail but if you do and clean it up. We appreciate you and your contributions.

Challenge Rules: Hiking - Trail Running - Paddling As long as you're cleaning up the environment you're enjoying. Clean up 25 lbs of trash on your favorite trail, path, river, park or any open space meant for outdoor recreation. This Challenge is open all year round. We'd like you to submit: Log Sheet with your hike and __Lbs of trash collected. Share a photo of you cleaning or your finished trash collection Share on social media with #garryowenhiking #hikertrashchallenge - Make a difference on the trails - Be a steward of Nature and help maintain our beautiful outdoor spaces Upon Completion of this Challenge - We will plant a tree with the National Forest Foundation - We will donate to Leave No Trace
